It may not make much difference to some people, but to me there is a find line of distinction between the original Saturn in that it was designed from scratch to be built and sold as a brand specific automobile and the last of them which were some form of a Badge Engineered Opal Vectra. Not that they are the only one who have done that but the list of no longer produced automobiles in the U.S. seem to be populated by that concept.
That does not mean something negative at least. As long as Opals continue to be built in Germany I am sure parts will be available to keep them running for a long time.

ASTRAS are put together all over the world and the North American ASTRA was not built in Germany. The AURA was built in the US and hardly looks like a VECTRA. All are shared platforms as was the L Series, the S-Car never was.

I have a 2008 Saturn aura 08 with 102K miles. Never had a problem with it until had to recharge air conditioning and fix a door lock this week. Aura is best car I've ever owned, still really comfortable and smooth to drive. Are aura's Known to have certain things that need to be fixed at certain mileages? My mechanic wasn't sure since most of them are still relatively new with low miles. Pontiac Grand Prix I had was known to blow the head gasket at 100K miles I had to repair. When I was waiting on my car to be fixed at garage this week, guy I met said he had friend with ion with 500K miles.

I also would like to know if the Opel 3.0 has any obvious problems beside the rubber band and the air conditioning compressor. The 4t40 tranny is fairly reliable and readily available.

Andy,

PLEASE make your signature NOW. I don't know what model of Aura you have and neither does anyone else. I'm not going to play guessing games.

Top right clk on name>>User CP>>edit signature on left. First Name/Geograph location, year, model, mileage for Sattys

189,000 on my 08 Aura and no major issues yet. Brakes, tires, oil changes mostly. Gonna try to find out how long "Forever" is with this one.
