there is a small box on the left side of the airbox in my sc2. can anyone tell me what this for because it seems pointless, i took it off today and all it was is a closed box with only 1 opening that goes to the airbox.

I believe it is used to "quiet down" the "rush of air" noise associated with the air intake system on these cars. I'm assuming there was some type of resonance associated with air entering the intake system at a particular speed -- or a howl at higher speeds -- such that it contributed to additional cabin noise.

While mostly the resonators are used for noise reduction, much like a tuned exhaust is it possible that running without may push the peak in the power band to a slightly higher engine speed?(not necessarily more power)
