If my 96 SC2 is cold, it will start with no problem. However, if the car runs for 10 mins. or more and you turn it off and try to restart, it won''t. The first time this happened, when the key was turned, the lights on the dash were lit and there was a little clicking in the motor. However, since then, when this happens, the lights on the dash will lite, but there is no sound at all from the motor. Once the car sits for a few hours, it will start right up.

I have checked the battery, all the wires are tight, and the engine does not run hot at all. Does anyone have any ideas.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, the positive battery cable is good.

I would normally guess that battery is in need of replacement (unable to hold a full charge), but the fact that you can start the vehicle after it cools down is not consistent with this.

Being unable to turn over the engine when hot often correlates with a starter on its way out - you may wish to get your starter tested.

Unfortunately the starter solenoid is internal to the starter and cannot be serviced separately.

You might also want to check the ignition fuse and the body fuses inthe interior fuse box. Those gave me a hard time and almost had me replace the starter.
