Neutral Safety Switch/5 sp 2001 sc1
Does anyone know where the neutral safety switch is located on a 2001 sc1 5 speed? All of the diagrams I can find say it's located on the transmission, right below the brake fluid reservoir. It's not on mine or I'm blind!

Thanks Derf.
Just to make sure, there is a black box with a switch at the bottom of the clutch and the neutral safety switch they sold me is flat with two molex connectors, test port and the roating switch in the middle.
The online diagram says this part is for automatic transmissions only and the button behind the clutch is the clutch start switch. Is this correct. The diagram is at: http://thecommi.angelfire.com/index.html located under the Transmissions folder, then Neutral safety switch.
Thanks again.

sorry you're losing me
the neutral safety switch for a 5 cyl is behind the clutch pedal
however, you seem to be looking on the tranny for the neut safety switch for an automatic (??????)
there is no rotating part on a manual trans neut safety switch -- it's a simply depressed by the back of the clutch pedal.
Sounds like you were sold the part for an automatic
take it back and get the right one for your car
What's wrong with your car, anyway?

Intermitent starting. The car will start four times in a row, then it will not even turn over. Battery is new and is fully charged each time tested. There is no starter noise at all when key is turned. The dash indicators (oil, etc) light up and turn red, radio display and milage display go dim when the key is turned to start. Car will roll start and run with no problem. Replaced the neutral safety switch, still same problem. Checked all fuses and they are all good as well. Trying now to find the neutral safety relay...
I'm with Derf. The neutral safety switch is a switch used for automatic transmissions to insure that the thing is in either park or neutral when you go to start the car. On a manual transmission car and it does depend on the car they may have a switch on the clutch that insures that the car's clutch is depressed before the car will start. Probably most new cars have one. The assumption is I guess the owner is so stupid they don't know how to start a car with a manual transmission safely. I have only had one new car recently with a manual transmission and that was a 1992. All the rest that I own are back in the 70's and they did not have anything like tht.
As far as I know, that is not called a neutral safety switch,
which raises the question of
what is it you are buying and what is it that is being changed?
