Hey guys, I'm new to the forums...just bought a 96 sc2 and have a few problems...please let me know if you can offer any help.
1.) Dome light doesn't work (replaced bulb)
2.) Passenger window (power) will only go down about 1/2 way, although I can get it to go all the way after a night of rain but it only will do it a few times and then it's back to the 1/2 way point.
3.) Service light is constantly on
4.) Service Engine Soon light blinks, and stays on steady after I 'get on it' (drive it hard).
5.) I can't get a OBD reader to work...it seems my plug connector isn't getting any power???

I live on Kauai, Hawaii and there isn't anyone around these parts that can help me. Obviously I have changed the spark plugs and wires, added fuel injector cleaner, and hooked up an OBD code reader in hope that these would help, but it's a no...Thanks in advance

For the dome light just check the usual problems... fuses or the door switches may be stuck/junk. Sounds like your window motor is nearing the end of its life... and it only can roll up and down after a rainfall because the window can slide easier against the weather stripping when wet. Does it sound like it's working very hard to roll up and down? I don't know if there's any kind of fuse in line for the plug connector, but that might be a thing to check as well as making sure the terminals aren't corroded or damaged

Ok, so I have fixed a few things...
1.) Dome light comes on when the door opens but then when I drive somewhere I get out and it turns on but then when I shut the door it stays on...
2.) Sounds like it's the window motor
3.) Hasn't come on anymore.
4.) Disconnected battery for about 15min and started up the car, and in about 5seconds it came back on?????
5.) Anyone have a wire diagram for the OBD plug??? I bought a Chilton's book but it doesn't have it in there.

*Anyone have or know where I can download/get a copy of Saturn Part Number lookup????

You might wanna ask sw2cam or derf for anything wiring related... i know they're pretty handy with that kinda stuff.


Without knowing the codes that are being spit out by the OBD it's hard to say, but if i was going to take a shot in the dark i'd say it's at least worth cleaning out your EGR valve..... search the forumn - there are tons of posts with EGR problems/diagnosis.


Look for the switches on the door jams that control the dome light. You can try pressing them in by hand or unplugging them to try andfind the fault.

so have you tryed useing some white litheem grease on the window motor might b bad or just might need to be greased and sometimes with the obd port the wires get lise try oushiung on the wires or moving the port or go to a junk yard and get a new one cut a fare amount of wire for the one from the junkyard cut that one out at the top near the port then use conectres collor code the wires see if that works

 

I will try the grease on the window and make sure the track is ok and everything. The OBD port, I have moved and made sure the car is on...even tried it with it running. but I'm guessing there is a bad lead in one wire somewhere....just don't really wanna go find it but I guess I have no other choice.
