crutchfield has always been my route... i buy a head unit from them for whatever car/truck and they send harnesses and wiring diagrams. the new heads also have a warranty

now for a stock head crutchfield will prolly send you whatever you need if you are gonna buy speakers which i would def upgrade since theyre prolly stock AND 10 years old... imo a good set of clear front speakers and deep punchy rear speakers especially with a nice aftermarket head unit will make you think twice about putting in the licence plate (and everything else) rattler... i mean subwoofer

When we purchased or 97 SC2 it came with a cassette player. A few years ago we picked up a stock head unit with a CD player, it was plug and play. I believe the wiring is the same for either a cassette or a single CD.

If you are going to go the route of amps and a sub(s) them you might want to consider an aftermarket head unit for sound quality. Using the converters for speaker wire to RCA cables does degrade the signal.
