Default Cold Air Intake?

Remember those days when many of the muscle cars had a SHAKER hood scoop?

I want to explore the idea of having a functional hood Scoop that sits above the the current air box, going to work it out on paper first so I can get a better idea of the benefits.

any ideas guys?

Cold air intake for more power.
Hot air intake for better mileage.

Most of the people building a dual mode intake use a flapper valve of some sort(exhaust cutout) and plumbing for both hot and cold air... Hot side would go to the exhaust manifold and the cold side could go to a scoop or wherever else you can find cold air...
