alternator and egr ?

how do i take the alternator out of a 99 sc1 if i need to does it go out the top or bottom or remove motor,and also is there a way to check the egr valve to see if it is bad and where is location of egr valve. thanks

Disconnect the battery, put it on stands, get a light and drop it from below. No the engine does not need to come out.Edited by: sw2cam

Remove the alternator from under that car - 30 minute job. If that.

The EGR valve is located on the drivers side of the head. It''s pretty big, you cant miss it. It looks like this:
