new ride but strangely familiar
Got that Buick back on the road sort of. Air bag light stays on and the power steering still fails randomly.
Best news though is that we got our hands on a 2006 Chevy Equinox (2WD) for $800 with less than 200k miles.
It's in excellent condition other than needing the yellowed headlight lenses dealt with.
When I was researching this vehicle I discovered that it was based on the Saturn Vue platform so I got excited about that. I also discovered that it was built at the CAMI Automotive GM/Suzuki joint venture plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada. If that place sounds familiar it's the same group that built the Geo Metro (my other favorite ride).
So while it's not a Saturn (or a Geo Metro) it has its roots in two of my favorite rides.
The in car controls would be familiar to anyone who's driven a Saturn S series for sure.
The handling is tight like my SW2.
The tranny is the Aisin AF33 transmission which is the same one used in the Saturn Vue (V6) so we have lots of info right here if there's any issues with it.
The engine (3.4V6) is pure chevy but made in China (must be why it was built at CAMI) and is an evolution of the engine that's in our Buick so I'm already familiar with the general design (and quirks).
Just good to have a solid daily driver again and for such a good price.
Now which would be less trouble/expense - install a hitch on the Equinox so I can haul my trailer or fix the broken cam position sensor on the Voyager?

I'd fix the Voyager. I had an 07 Equinox for about 6 months. Biggest POS I ever owned. Lots of electrical problems and a faulty fuel pump. I had to threaten with an attorney in order for GM to fix it under an NHTSA recall! Fix the cam sensor on the Voyager. Odds are you are going to need it.
If you believe the Eq is stable to be your DD for now, by all means, fix the Voyager first.
My general rule of thumb is never to mess with my DD unless I have a plan B ride as a hot spare. Of course now I have both my Saturns (95 97 SC2) so I have 3 and with COVID I drive nowhere, but that's not the point.......
The Eq may theoretically be able to handle your trailer, but it's getting long in the tooth, it's a V6, and I'd check that frame for structural soundness before attaching anything to it.

Got the Voyager going again.
Had to pull the ignition coil pack, the motor mount, an idler pulley and the motor mount plate off so I could get a grip on the bad sensor. Popped right out once I did. Put it all back together with the new sensor and it runs great!
I get so frustrated with car manufacturers hiding maintenance items behind layers of stuff that have nothing to do with the item in question.
Equinox is still holding up just fine and the Saturn acts like I never took it off the road.
Maybe I can work on some of the things that have been neglected around the house for a while instead of the cars.

Bravo, old friend.
If you want more frustration, come work on my 2014 Escape SE EB.
I can't even find clear diagrams of where things are, b c half the sensors are hidden behind other shayt and with 11 crossing dotted lines it just gets pointless.
And the other half are on the back side.
Can I have a lift for a holiday gift from the forum?
First thing I'll do is mail it to you, dude.
