Hey Andy, if you were going to purchase a used pickup truck 10-15 years old, what would be your choice? I know you're a Ford guy at work, but would an F-150 be your pick over a Ram 1500 or Chevy 1500? My son is wanting a long bed pickup truck for some reason. If he gets one, I'll have plenty of use for it. He doesn't like getting his hands dirty, so I have no idea why he wants one.

We own a 2006 Lincoln Navigator that we purchased when it was one year old with 30,000 miles. It now has over 200,000 miles on it and has ben a wonderful vehicle.
Each brand of trucks will have their own set of problem areas, I am only familiar with Fords since that is all I have seen for the last 16 years. Our company also has several Dodge trucks from 2009 to 2016. The heavy duty trucks are all Cummins powered and have been good trucks. The 1500 trucks have a Pentastar v-6 and have had cam follower issues all under warranty. I hope it is not a continuing problem after warranty.
I have zero experience with the LS series GM engines and the only GM trucks that my co-workers own are Diesels. The Duramax Diesel/Allison combination is very troublefree.
Do not buy a Diesel unless you are going to tow heavy loads all the time.
Buy a gasoline powered vehicle if it will be used as a car, short trips and minimal towing.

Thanks for your most valuable input, Andy. I've never been much of a Ford man, but know several people that have them and love them. I may tell Philip to look for a decent F-150, but that's the most commonly stolen truck in the USA!

did all my neighbors in New Jersey when gas hit $4 a gallon. I still enable the alarm every night on the black car. The white 95 does not even have an alarm system. In public in not so wonderful neighborhoods, I will point my 97 remote fob at it and push buttons so that it looks like I'm enabling an alarm. Once they felt the vibrations they probably will just get out and leave it running...... Driving them for so long with no car payments is the reason there is an Audi A3 in my driveway. And a used one at that. Some things in life take a little longer than others. Everyone faces different challenges in life. It is if and how you choose to face those challenges that makes the difference
