A neat little game...
I think I know what Rube was on about... Basically, there are four members playing(Hell, there seemed to be four active forum members before Unc came back online), and with only a couple of lyrics solved(wihout google) out of about 20 posted, the game seemed boring as it was. I see the need for no revision of the rules, because the thread has gone in a new direction of sorts, and the rules apply less now than in the beginning, but could turn back too...
I've enjoyed myself more with this thread than in a long while, just communicating musically with other forum members, and it has became more about that communication than about the guessing of lyrics... I say we continue just as we were, posting lyrics and pondering them/listening to the songs/guessing the artist and title. If you are guessing, the rules are a general guideline, but if you are just communicating/sharing, then fire away!(hit me with your best shot)

Right on bro. I'm in for the long haul.
(Hit me with you best shot = Pat Benatar)
Rube. I know very little about the Alan Parsons Project other than that song and "I wouldn't wanna be like you". Point me in some direction please.

(I was just gonna post "number Nine...Number Nine...Number Nine...but that's plain silly)
Here ya go
An acoustic gem from an otherwise pretty hard-rockin band...
IGNORED: Led Zeppelin: That's the Way

I don't know how I'm gonna tell you,
I can't play with you no more,
I don't know how I'm gonna do what mama told me,
My friend, the boy next door.
I can't believe what people saying,
You're gonna let your hair hang down,
I'm satisfied to sit here working all day long,
You're in the darker side of town.
And when I'm out I see you walking,
Why don't your eyes see me,
Could it be you've found another game to play,
What did mama say to me.

Bones should know this one -- I know Rube knows the band.
If you Google it, do the studio w/video version AND the acoustic live versions (acoustics just not within earshot of kids)

Oh, dear mother, I love you
I'm sorry, I wasn't good enough
Dear father, forgive me
'Cause in your eyes, I just never added up
In my heart I know I failed you, but you left me here alone
If I could hold back the rain, would you numb the pain?
'Cause I remember everything.
If I could help you forget, would you take my regrets?
'Cause I remember everything........

I seem to be inspired to post favorite after favorite. You'll probably know most -- if you do, you'll get a better idea of who I am, if not, go listen to some really great music.....
TRULY DISAPPOINTED THAT NO CLASSIC ROCK DUDE GOT THIS
DAVID BOWIE: Ziggy Stardust

Obscure band I saw live in college sitting on the floor in front of the stage.
This singer had more stage presence than anyone I've ever seen besides Odetta.
Shame they never went anywhere. It's a love it/hate it song/album
APPARENTLY STILL TOO OBSCURE TO GUESS: CATERWAUL: Big Ox Laughing

The mighty ox has colors
more than oneself could conceive of
the great one has become a portent hue
a portent hue
This monster lumber dances
Spinning with the force of no one
he has become what he is
he is a Color Wheel Now

Ill be honest, i had to google 9 and 10, both were slightly out of my experience. i listen to both bands, but hadnt heard either song yet. however, im seriously considering downloading both of them once i get my tablet charged again(using my wifes laptop cause im too lazy to go out in the snow to get my lightning cable from my car)...
anyway, my musical experience is limited to what i have heard in video games or have been recommended, so i have lots of gaps, and lots of non- mainstream stuff, like this...

Is this the whole picture
Or is it just the start?
Is this the way you love me?
You're capturing my heart
I used to try and walk alone
But I've begun to grow
And when you tell me just to rest
I'm finally letting go
I let go

Kimi no machi ie ude no naka
Indeed this is quite beautiful; a slight departure from Black Sabbath and Metallica, but that is literally the beauty of music.
I won't post the artist in the hopes others will listen.
I just hope nothing was being shot at while this was playing....

SOLVED: Five Finger Death Punch- Wrong Side of Heaven
and yes, my seventh lyric is quite beautiful to listen to. the moment in the video game i got it from was just as beautiful as the song, and i still cry listening to it... youtube the Macalania Forest scene from Final Fantasy X to get the scoop, if you havent already...

I heard from God today,
He says that he's ashamed
What have i become, what have i done?
i spoke to the devil today,
he says he's not to blame
and i understood,
'cause i feel the same...
arms wide open, i stand alone
i'm no hero, and i'm not made of stone
right or wrong, i can hardly tell
i'm on the wrong side of Heaven, and the righteous side of Hell
He says that he's ashamed
What have i become, what have i done?
i spoke to the devil today,
he says he's not to blame
and i understood,
'cause i feel the same...
