Default Mom & Pop junkyards going away?

On the way back from the local Pick n Save's "All you can carry or 50% off" sale I decided to stop by one of my favorite little mom & pop junkyards (their normal prices equal the big yard's half off prices). I was surprised to find the gate closed. I called the number and it was disconnected. My wife tells me they were shut down for failing an EPA inspection. I liked that one mainly because it was the last one like that in the area that had older cars and now it's gone. In the past 20 years we have lost 8 out of eleven junkyards in our area. It's getting harder to find parts for our old babies as a result. Anyone else here notice a similar trend in their area?

All the small wrecking yards have been gone for several years near me in Oregon. There are basically two large chains, one is still a you pull it and the other is just order and wait.
