Default I'm alive...sorta

Hey y'all. I have been so busy with life I just haven't really stopped in...6 weeks left til I have this baby girl. I'm having car issues...they replaced my ignition for that damn recall and now 3/4 of the time my car doesn't want to start...sometimes it'll start turning over and then start clicking...other times it'll just click from the very begining...sometimes you wait a few mins and it'll start other times it wont. Nothing like being 8 months pregnant stuck in a parking lot with a 4yr old in 100 degree weather. My boyfriends dad said my battery is reading right when it's running but if you jump the car it'll start...I just don't get it. I can't afford to take it to a mechanic and i don't know if it's just a fluke it started right after they changed my ignition or not.. after trying to get a hold of them for 2 months going to take it back to the dealer and have them go through it and see what they can find. Ugh life just hasn't been a garden these last few weeks...pretty stressed out. Hope all is going well with everyone

Mandy,

Save yourself a lot of time and expense. With out the proper equipment you cannot tell if a battery is good or not. Take it to a auto zone or such and have them do a load test etc. They don't charge and should be able to tell you if your battery has issues or not. Your symptoms sound like a shorted cell in the battery but could be about anything.

Hope this helps

I agree with C6Vette, Mandee. It's pretty coincidental that this all started after they "fixed" your car and I don't believe in coincidences. It wouldn't surprise me if someone took your battery and put their old, crappy battery in your car. Get it checked.

i pm'd you a bunch of stuff similar to the above since I read your pm before seeing the post. Load test is just as good an option for determining battery health.

I had the same issue with my RL after the recall, and it was the battery.

Took it to the dealer today and they say it's the battery...just don't understand why the day they changed my ignition it would decide it's not going to work anymore. .like seriously in my life it doesn't just rain or pour I get a whole ****ing hurricane to torment me. $115 for a battery is the cheapest we've found.. .you have got to be kidding me...wtf are these people smoking who make these prices. I'm so tired of everything right now. Ugh.

Since the battery is in the trunk you must purchase a vented battery, not a traditional one. The battery will have vents to which you connect the tubing already in the car to vent the gases to the outside. Otherwise they can build up in your trunk and become an explosion/fire risk or attack the metal -- so says the internet.

Take a thorough look at the current setup and be sure the battery you get will connect to those vent tube(s).

Since you're probably not feeling too well these days, I thought I'd try to help you out regarding battery replacement options

DISCLAIMER: The following results are my best attempt to collect battery info for your 2007 ion 3 without knowing the engine size. Some sites were pickier than others and engine selections were further broken down by VIN codes. Basically, I did the best I could. DOUBLE CHECK!!! I assumed 2.2L engine, but even that has 2 choices......arrrggghhh

Here we go:

Hope this helps. Above all, make sure the vent tubes fit the new battery

Of course, there is at least 1 forum member currently driving with a non vented battery in their ion trunk for 7 years.........

Waiiiiiit!!!
HI MOMMY!

Anyways, im not fan of stealerships. But the recall work was done by them, and you had the issue after they touched it. So they should of replaced it no charge. That's Fed up that they made you pay that.

HelloooooooooMandy. Damn I wrote up a big old post, then before it was done I walked into the kitchen to get more coffee. That was the end of that cause when I got back to my puter one of the cats was on the keyboard, post gone. So now I'm on my gNote which I use 99% of the time anyway.

So Hey Hellooooooo Mandy I hope your doing fine. Would be nice if that little one comes a day or two early. I hope she comes into this world as pretty as me, with a bit more hair. Everyone on here hopes she is as "pretty" as I am. We all hope she is as healthy as can be, and grows up to be the only Beauty Queen to become President of the United States after becoming the most decorated U.S. Marine of the 21st century. I know the rest of the guys wish you all the luck. We have our fingers crossed labor lasts for 4 minutes and 21 seconds or less.
