Thanks... Honestly, I'm growing tired of not having a working vehicle... I updated the last post on page 2 to reflect pertinent info... Price on the (presumed) SL1 is a firm $1800, the SC2 still needs negotiated based on condition, but it is low mileage... I'm trying not to get desperate, to stay picky, but with each week I have to sleep in town for what should be a half hour commute, I grow more tired of this arrangement

Patience, my truck was down for six months. Today I changed the oil, changed the top nylon ball joint bushings and found my death wobble it was the right tierod end. It is supposed to snow tonight and I was not looking forward to driving the Saturn in the snow. Probably wouldn't make it out of my driveway if there was much snow anyway. I tell people who have never been down my driveway before that if they think they are on a logging road they have found the right place!
Hope you get a good car to replace your Malibu.

1800 firm for an 02 SL? w 140K? See if you can find one that expensive on craigslist.
LOW miles+15 yrs =? Could be a granny's garage find, could be someone hung up on kellybluebook values which become nonsense for cars this old. DEALERS dont offer KBB on that as a trade in......
02 SC2 sounds like a better deal, as long as you make it clear after your compression test done right in front of him that he needs to tell you how much oil it REALLY burns and that this is the one and only time you're asking so you need to know the right answer. Also ask him how many times it has overheated. And what he's replaced. And if it's aftermarket or OEM. And get a carfax out of him. He's pricing it based on kbb so oughta be fun. if it is a really nice specimen maybe i'll come down and interrogate him.
Hell, we'll see whose SC2 looks nicer. I'll race him too......(jk on the racing)

Yeah, I like the thought of a 104k mile 2002 SC2, if I can get them talked down to something I can afford... Asking price is $2450, I can't pay a nickel over $2100 due to tax and title fees...
