Default Friggin deer!

Well, guys, I hit a deer with the Malibu... I was on my way home at cruising speed(50mph), and a big deer ran at full speed from the far right... Never seen it until it was too late..

Now just waiting for insurance appraiser to come out and look her over...
Lots of damage was done, not all visible in this pic, I fear at the insurance company will total my car..

Hope you didn't get to meet mr. airbag. It looks very fixable but the insurance guy will total it. How does that work where you are, can you buy it back and repair it and still pass inspection? No inspections where I live so just about anything goes here. I have hit many deer over the years, it surprises me. I have to stop for them all the time. The black tail are in the rut now and are pretty stupid.

Any deer in rut is pretty stupid. He's all about that tang! LOL It's amazing how much damage they can do and keep running. And a damned wild turkey can do some major damage to a car too. They're all over the place where I live, so I'm ever vigilant. Good luck with the insurance person.

We bought our L series back from a total when we had it... We also got a killer offer, and should've just let it go... It is fixable, I figure that straightening the core support will be the biggest hurdle in that process, and then just bolting on good parts... I'll likely let it go and not go through the crap of getting an R title, unless their offer is too little to replace the car with... In the unlikely event they tell me they'll repair the damage, then I'll start taking off the damaged parts and trying to straighten the core support, while I wait on a check...

I just met the appraiser today, he was pretty friendly, took like a million pictures of everything... I showed him all the damage I could find... Odo reads 162k...

So, I finally heard from the adjuster today, my car is officially totaled... The appraiser for my mileage wrong, stating 172k instead of 162k... Offer was $2,190 for my car... Hoping that, with the actual mileage, the offer goes up some, but I'm doubting it... $2k doesn't buy much car...

Yep, most cars in that price range are either beat down or just about worn out. I HAVE lucked out a few times and gotten good cars in that price range, but every one will always need some type of work. Mostly tune ups, oil changes and brakes.

That is the problem with driving a high mileage car and totaling it. The odds are if you have taken care of it, there is double the mileage left on it which is one heck of a savings in not buying a new one.
I totaled my Chrysler Easter with 120,000 miles on it and I need some thing to run mileage with. I figured another 100,000 miles was good to go, it was straight, clean and a runner and dead. The 6 K I got would not even begin to replace it. Dang!
The really sad thing was that if I had my 1994 Saturn painted and ready to go I would not have been in such a bloody hurry to replace the dang Chrysler with.
I've driving the little coupe regularly now and I forget just how easy it is to like it.

That's a very good looking car, Bones. I love the color on it.

Also looking at an 08 Aura XR, 3.6/6T70, 157k... Would have to borrow a little(under $1k probably), but I could Uber in it...
