I am trying to configure my neighbor's new 8.1 computer to retrieve mail from their msn.com account. Msn and hotmail were "merged" somehow into the outlook.com "space", yet still retained their original addresses.

In order to configure the built in windows mail client it forces you to make a microsoft acct.....ex derf@outlook.com. You then use THIS acct to log into the microsoft OUTLOOK account at outlook.com.

Once in, you can get mail to your outlook.com email address.

There is also a feature where you can add other email addresses to check.
I tried to configure the msn account profile to match the server settings, security type, port #, etc.....but no dice.

My neighbor CAN and does retrieve email from this account daily on her iphone.

Can someone who has an msn.com please post the acct settings info ? I'm about to lose it....
