The aluminum gear was noisy but put with 8000 rpm . We also ran a brass distributor used to protect the cam. Our engine was set up like a drag race engine with aluminum rods. We never ran a race longer than 50 laps on a 1/3 mile track. We let some components wear to protect the more expensive ones.
