... bad feeling in stomach. Well, if I have to pull the engine I'm going to drive it to the ground till it wont go anymore first! What I will do is pull the plugs in about a week, and see if more oil has gathered. I also noticed some oil around the head gasket which is what made me think of that. It looks like about 12fastenersand some wires, etc. If its just a gasket, it shouldntbe bad. Is there access to the oil rings on the piston from the top? Will the cam pushthem up far enoughfor me tochange the rings if that's it?Or will it be an overhaul project?Pulling an engine is a little above my experience...

If you have to even touch the rings, you're ripping the engine out dude.
The piston will never EVER go far enough up in the cylinder to allow for tinkering or piston rings. If you're gonna pull the engine, I would seriously be looking at boring it out, so that way you get rid of all that engine wear that is going to be clearly evident.
It can be a really good thing to do, but at the same time, it can be rather annoying, and complicated.
I think that the engine hasn't been taken care of very well in the past, and so now you have to deal with all of that. Ouch.
