Welcome to the forum, man. We really like it when people participate rather than just show up when they have a problem. Tell us about your ride and if you have any plans for mods or customizing it. Pictures are appreciated too.
I'll be just as active as the next guy. 2000 LS2 2.2 auto. Plans...for sure going turbo. So, bigger injectors, 3'' exhaust and every supporting mod needed. I'm not new at all to modding cars, but very new to this motor. Have no clue where to get the parts for this build as of yet, lol. Oh, bigger cams as well. Any good parts sites or anyone know what parts are compatible with my car? Thanks in advance for help
A check of on line, I found sort of a reference to the GM performance catalog. It seems that since GM has progressed to the one size fits everything approach to building a car except for those built by Daewoo and/or any other some what questionable GM subsidiary and then badged with some vaguely familiar name when sold here, the performance catalog seems to be limited to the latest version of the Chevy V8. Used where ever it is used.
It has become tiresome to like and enjoy a car to watch it deteriorate into a form of badge engineering, a term that came into play in the 1920’s when you could contact Budd Steel Stamping (World Wide) to stamp out a body and sell it to you (and anyone else with money to buy) and the Continental or Lycoming for engines; http://www.continentalengines.com/ or http://www.lycoming.textron.com/ makers of engine used by many famous cars, Auburn, Cord, Checker and Kaiser to name a few. Badge engineering, a euphemism since replaced by the currently politically correct term of Corporate Platforms. Only now the badge engineering is done under the banner of a major automobile manufacturers label leading to the loss of brands in the recent years for what ever reason justifying it. Except being unable to determine what brand the finished product was by looking at it.
I can just imagine what it will be like to be able to buy a new Cadillac or maybe a Ford or possibly even a Chrysler with the manufacturers tag that says, made by Toyota or possibly FIAT and assembled in Open Pants Montana.
Sorry, I’m venting. But then again I am tired of looking for a new car and having a sales man whose last job was selling kitchen appliances asking me why I don’t want to buy a Four Door Sedan.
Or as one did when I asked to see a used Chrysler Sebring, show me a Volkswagen and then tell me that according to statistics, the average buyer changed their mind about what they were looking for when shown something different then what they asked to see.
Yuh, I’m grumpy and old. And I don’t know how many more cars I am going to buy but for dang sure, I want a station wagon so I am building one.
Now that Detroit has decided what they want to sell is a sedan or a pretend truck. And Mercedes determined that when I asked to see something with out leather I was told they don’t make one with cloth.
A question I did not ask. I asked to see something with out leather. At the time I could afford to pay cash for what I was looking for and I did. I bought a Chrysler instead. As it turned out, a better choice in the long run.
