Welcome to the forum!
Not too many SW2s on the road any more. Nice to see another still going.
Mine just won't quit even though I've abused it severely for the 150K miles I've owned it.
Best handling wagon I've ever owned too.

Two and three quarter? Your back pressure is probably zero. So adding more would be adding some, technically.

Obviously you live somewhere where straight piping is legal. Or you like to tempt fate. Either way, no back pressure.

Time tells the story that if you are looking for enhanced performance, you need to do the intake, internals and exhaust. You're not going to get much of a performance increase on the dohc without slapping a turbo on it. Well documented everywhere a Saturn person would go.

Not sure of your age, but 120 decibels won't sound like 120 decibels for long, because the speed at which your hearing will be damaged will make it sound softer.

You will not enjoy tinnitus for the remainder of your life. That's what my friends say.

But welcome to the forum!

Save up money for alternators.
And that capacitor across your battery is not going to save anything nor truly stabilize the voltage

Derf to answer your question I'm 28 and live in Illinois in a rural area so straight pipes are very common
I would like to bore it 30 over an attempt to find a cam find a header and intake
As for 120ish decibels it registered 122.3 DB at windshield headrest level competition specs
I'm going to do a big 3 upgrade add a second battery right now I do not have a cap but do have aftermarket 130 amp alternator
All said and done is going to have two sound cubed HDS 2.1 in a custom box tune to 35hz
My 98 Durango I had the setup in it was 1 15" rival Mobile electronics c15 2.2 in a 4ftcubic sq box tuned to 32hz
a planet audio anarchy 3000watt amp wired to 1 ohm it hit a 146.7 DB at a competition

What happens if you try to tune it lower than 32 Hertz, why is that the frequency you selected?

Does a decibel meter read the highest (peak) level at whatever freq it is or an average of all the waves of different frequencies converging on a point in space, with all the constructive and destructive interference?

The rival 15 was turned specifically to 32hz that was the subwoofers best spl hz for the box
Box was 3.75 cubic foot squared with a kurf port the box was built by the guy who owns rival mobile electronics
It's a small subwoofer company out of galseburg Illinois here's a link to his website https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...E32Zr59PFMLNV8

Is it in any way practical to go lower, down near low 20s, or do the dimensional requirements of the box become unwieldy?

I'm thinking for home use but I suppose the size requirements would be somewhat similar although there are many ways to accomplish it, although some sound much worse than others. I dig the deepest clean bass I can find....

Derf to answer your question not really the hertz the box is tuned to is the frequency at witch it hits the hardest and loudest you really don't see very much bass music under 25hz usually it's 30-40hz
plus it's alot to do with what you are listening to and expecting also to clarify in my original post stating what was done to my car I should have explained better that the exhaust of 2 3/4 was only part of the size it is stock size from motor to just before the rear axle I stepped it up to 2 3/4 there back and by will be adding more I ment mods to the motor and suspension
