I r nu 2
Okay folks. I got the engine sizes, but have no idea what the mileage was on those cars when we traded them. We still have the LW300 so I do know the miles on that. I just sold my '83 Lincoln Mark VI, a gorgeous thing. As I had mentioned, my wife wouldn't drive it- too big. We need to replace it now. I had thought of getting a used Subaru. I drove my pastor's a lot, taking a lady down to Hershey hospital, and liked it. I talked with a lady here in town that gets used ones, repairs whatever needs repairing, then adds $200 to her total cost when she sells them. She has one customer that has 560k on his Subie!!! But those things have a bad rep for blowing head gaskets. I've also considered getting another Saturn LW if I can find a good one because we really like the one we have now. Of course them being out of business is an issue. Still, I've been leaning more in that direction over the idea of getting a Subie.
That's the beauty of the older Saturns with the composite vertical panels. They don't rust all out on you. We bought a brand new Subie in 1973. By 55,000 the camshaft died and the fenders were all rusting under the hood where they're joined onto the inner fender well. They have improved them on both counts, but that head gasket issue is a biggie. From what I've read the only way you can get around it is to buy one with a V6, which of course, has a shorter head.
