Default Hello I'm keeping my 99 Saturn

Hi,
Glad to know there is a Saturn Forum! I had two cars (just sold my old 85 Toyota truck) and just decided to keep my SL1 Saturn at least for a while!

It has 125,000 (I put on 55,000 of those). Today I plan to clean out the throttle body and maybe even change the oil/filter. I was going to sell this thing and got to thinking...why?!?

I'm thinking I can maintain it like my little truck. It has cold air, new brakes, good tires, a new instrument cluster (I'll tell you more about that later), and very nice interior. I need to buy jack stands today and get started on giving it some attention.

If anyone has any suggestions on what I can maintain/repair besides oil changes, throttle bodies, air filter, without taking it to a shop I'd appreciate input. I'm very mechanical (not like a robot though ) but I don't want to be removing the entire engine if you know what I mean.

Nice to meet everyone.

Today I got busy and drove to about 30th ave and Buckeye to a salvage yard. One of my visors is shot. A lady at one place wanted $40.00!!!!
Another place "Pick a Part" only wants about $8.00 and you take it off yourself. I'll go back there tomorrow.

I'm kinda excited about keeping this little Saturn. Today I cleaned out the throttle body and fixed the high idle problem!!!! Coming up in the next several weeks will be a oil/filter change and probably new window tinting (I can't do that).

Stay tuned....

John

Hello and welcome to the Saturn Forum
I have a tint guy in Chandler along I-10 if it's not to far to drive. I used him for years when I was with Saturn/GM.

Add your first name, city, yr and model to your signature. Signature is in the USER CP top left of the page.
