I have have a 2005 saturn ion 2, I hit a deer the other day and am now having a issue with the gas to air ratio being to lean. I have replaced everything that I think would cause the issue but still have the same problem. Then I came across this piece that had broken off and I have no clue what it is. It connects right above the throttle body and off to the driver side of the engine.
if anyone has an idea I would much appreciate the help. One of the ends connects to that grayish end. This the line that I found.
One end of that line connects to the open port on the purge valve. Trace the line that is still attached to the purge valve and see if it goes to the engine / throttle body or if it goes towards the canister. I believe the line you took a picture of goes from the canister to that purge valve fitting.
If it is opening and closing at fixed intervals, I would not necessarily think that's an issue that would make your car run lean, but there is also the possibility that if it was already stuck open, the ECM was compensating for the constant amount of extra fuel. When the line came off, it's now just sucking air constantly.
Don't know the ions well enough.
Hopefully the connectors on that line are still usable.
You can look up on the net where the canister is actually located.
