Getting in tune

Stock intake is good for 300 something hp.
Plus any intake on the market is a smaller diameter than stock.
I've tested the k&n, aem short ram and full cai, weapon r, and a few ebay ones. Never got my hands on an injen or fujita, but crap reviews.
Stock adjusted as stated will perform better. I'm using a stock lk9 box on my car.

Thank you for the details.
Not too many peeps that want upgrades actually bother to consider the capabilities of the stock version. Because aftermarket parts are by definition better.... not.

Eh, the stock design can be improved upon, but the box itself is usually adequate for a stock normally aspirated engine... the air tube is corrugated in places and it has a box on top of the TB for NVH reasons... gotta be a restriction so I went with a smooth tube, and I’m planning on a modded airbox with a bigger air inlet in the floor and a bigger outlet in the lid...

Remove the resonator and cut the fins off the box for a base model. Biggest restriction is the baffles in the tube from the box to tb then. But even there, its bigger than anything you'll buy off the shelf.
Even in the redline world, stock intake outflows anything on the market. Its just a noise mod for em unless they go TVS or turbo.

I’ve got a res delete and a smooth tube (no baffles) and my new lid (still need to install) has the fins cut out and a 3.5” outlet instead of the oval shaped one on the stock lid...
i loved the ZZP intake on my Redline though, it sounded great (though you’re right in saying the stock airbox is good to around 300whp)
