Hey...i have a 1998 Saturn SL....the wipers will not turn off, unless i kill the power with the wipers in the "down" position. Needless to say, this is very annoying. The dealer tells me i need a new wiper motor and it will cost over $400 to fix. I suspect its just a simple switch problem. Any ideas? The wipers do work in fast or slow mode, but when i turn the switch to off or intermittent, they keep going at slow speed. If i am patient enough, they sometimes turn off but that takes several minutes. Thanks in advance.

Check out the costof a new wiper motor and then call around to different salvage yards to get prices. That way you know what you are being charged in comparison to a new motor. A Saturn dealer should be able to give you a shop time for the job. Then you can decide who you want to do the work.
