Default vibration-left front-2004 Ion-strut mount?

Hi everyone,
I'm new here-great to find the site!
I have a 2004 Ion 1,which I got from my in-laws. It has 37k on it, but they drove it over a curb 'at speed', and did some damage. I've gotten all of the noises and clunks figured out(new control arms, sway bar bushings and linkage arms-the usual stuff, from what I understand), but there is one thing that's driving me crazy. There is a noise coming from the left front wheel- it comes on at about 10 mph, and gets louder as I go faster. It is consistent with the wheel speed, and gets louder under suspension load(for instance, going around a right turn)-it is not related to gear or engine load.
I've replaced the front wheel bearing(twice),and replaced and rotated the tires(whatever tire I put on the left front makes the noise-inflation pressure makes no difference).
Has anyone had this problem? I'm wondering if it might be a damaged strut bearing-although the car steers and drives well.
Any insight would be appreciated. I'm thinking about just throwing some new strut assemblies in there, but that's a bit pricey...
Thanks,
Neil

Possibly the half-shaft. When they "curbed" it, it could have screwed up a cv joint.
