sh*ting solinoids keep shorting out
#1
Here we go ,1993 SL2 presented with shifting problems.and check eng light. scaned ecu and found some bad shifting solinoids (2) also when ohming out the others we found one that was border line so we changed that one too. solinoid should have about 4-7 ohms resistance depending on temp. When solinoids were changed and codes . car ran great .. for about a week . same problem occurres. this time we find a solinod we did not change fail and one that was brand new failed and found one that was new had very low resistance . This time we changed all solinoids old and new . again the car ran great for about a week , and the same thing happend again and again. Also when the solinoids go bad the windings are discolored Note: This problem began instantly after a radiator was installed .the car was returned and tech said the tranny cooling lines were clogged (wonder how that happend)any way they changed the fluid fitler and flushed the lines so they said .The car ran good for about a week .Then the shifting nightmare began. weve check the fluid flow to cooler it seemed okay and checked the voltage level to soliniods all normal and changed the fluid. THIS IS A GOOD ONE. ANYONE THAT KNOWS THE ANSWER TO THIS ONE CAN BE A HERO.Thank You . vinnieEdited by: sw2cam

You might want to cross reference your UHFB fuses to make sure the correct rated fuses are installed. If there are any installed that are a higher rating than the fuse cover says they should be, that would be the source of your solenoids going bad.
