I have a 98 Sc200 that makes a very loud droning sound that changes with speed. It will go away when turining to the right but not to the left. The hum makes me think the problem is the wheel bearings but since it changes with direction I was also thinking CV joints. The CV rubbers look good. Just wondering if anyone else had a similar problem.

100% guatentee it is the wheel bearing. And i believe its the side that you turn into thats makes it stop is the problem side. But i cant remember for sure.

The easiest way to tell if it is that, would be to jack the front of the car up and check for play in the wheel by holding the wheel and trying to shimmy it back and forth. There should be little to no play. Try both sides and im sure youll find one of them has alot more play in it.
