</>ok somy car has the following symptoms:


there is airrushing out of the oil fill cap when it is removed. (is this normal?)


it is knocking or tocking on and off without pattern. it will knock a few times not do anything for a few seconds then start again but without pattern.


it does not make the noise when only cranking without the spark plugs sparking.


i took off the valve cover and all 16 lifters move full range up and down.


i am using 87 regular unleaded.


my oil level was down to 2&amp;1/2 quarts when the noise started.


my car 94 sc2 DOHC 130k miles.


does it need higher grade gas?

Air out of the oil fill is normal.

Sounds like a bad catalytic converter. Does it sound like marbles in a tin can? Its will only do it at start up at first then get worse. I just experienced this on my 1995 SL2.

It could also be a spun rod bearing. In that case, time for a new engine.

 

&lt;/&gt;i have replaced all spark plugs and the noise is still there. the service engine light is on so i put a wire in terminal A and B to read the service engine light flashes. it only flashes 12. i had not put a new gasket on the valve cover since i took it off, so i was going to but, 3 bolts broke. so now 10 fresh ones are on their way.


does any one know what it means when it only flashes 12?


any other ideas of what the problem could be?

12 means is entering self diagnosis mode. If all you get is a 12, there are no stored codes.

How did you break the camcover bolts? They arent meant to be that tight.

 

I used a torque wrench. They have been removed at least 10 times, and a few of those not by us they are pretty old. I guess they still shouldn't just snap. Here is my car on Youtube. You can't here the sound until 20 seconds in. The other noises are normal but amplified due to the camera phone used to record the video.

It sounds to me like internal engine damage. Does it have full power?

mines doing the same thing...but worse...

the popping is continuous...it doesnt just start...

it starts when i turn on the car and gets worse as the rpms go up...

im tryign to figure it out...

i have no clue what it is...
