Keyless remote fob

2008 vue xr keyless entry fob
Perhaps the entry module was installed by the dealer after the sale. I have one fob that works great but it is badly worn. I bought the replacements on Ebay for 2/ $30. They are probably China made but they look new and identical in configuration as the one i have. The dealer told me that as long as they for GM and match the number of buttons they are OK.

Thanks for the sig, sir.
I owned that vehicle and all the fob functionality is in the head of the key, which is of course a chipped key. I'm not saying the fobs you already have don't work....but don't you have the chipped keys w the built in fob?
Maybe it wasn't a standard option and someone retrofitted it with an older RKE system

I was looking that up online recently when I got my Saturn a couple months ago, it had a keyfob control. So I looked it up and found this. Seems like one can program it with the right steps as weird as they are. You use the car itself and manipulate the controls of the car in a certain sequence. Andrew hughes seems to have some info in it.

Thanks for the post. Believe it or not, I was at the dealer buying a key and mentioned the remotes to the parts manager and he suggested that I ask the service people to program them and they did them free. The key was half the price at the dealer compared to lock smiths. THAT IS A FIRST. THEY HAVE RESTORED MY TRUST.

Awesome.
I would imagine locksmiths drool over these kind of key requests. I'm sure they have to pay only what you do at the dealer, or less if done in bulk. A bit of base programming and the rest is pure profit, limited only by what they feel like charging.
