ignition mechanism issues...
...ok - heres the dealio. wifes '01 saturn sl1 got wrecked so we took to a shop and had them do the work needed to get it back on the road. new rear suspension parts, new muffler (non oem and flex pipe ) new rear bumper cover...
...i personally drove it to the shop just fine. soon as they tried working on it they called me and told me the couldnt even turn the key in the ignition (which we never had a trouble with) so they went ahead and torn the ignition apart too that it was the ignition assembly and that the part alone would cost me $120 - so my wife called around and went and bought one from a junk yard... for $45 at that. she took it to them and had them install it. and now...
...evrything is hunkydory - except for the fact that when you shut the car off, it wont turn all the way back to the 'lock' position every time and the key is 'stuck' in the ignition.
anyone know anything about fixing these? adjusting these? or am i just going to have to eat the $120+labor for a new one?
*sigh*
im seriously considering selling this car :-/

I wasn't there then, (and I'm not there now), but if what you state is totally true, I would be like totally suspicious of the "need" to replace the ignition assembly. Granted, it could have taken that moment to fail, but it seems almost too much coincidence ....

i actually took the old one from them when they told me about it. had a look at it, had someone else look at it and decide it was shot. it just wasnt turning. even out of the car...
...i also dont understand why the tumbler just cant be replaced?
