Cooling Fan ??

The cooling fan on the 2000 SC1 only comes on when you turn the defroster on , My little stepbrother said it started doing that after he installed a radio system in it when he had it . Also there is a ground wire just hanging loose behind the console under the radio , could that be a problem because everything else works

Clarification, please. You say ''cooling fan'' in your message. Do you mean the fan that is mounted in the passenger compartment, or are you referring to the fan mounted on the radiator inside the engine compartment?

Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS) connector, and with an ohmmeter, measure the resistance of the contacts on the sensor when the engine is cold. With the outside temperature between 50degrees and 80degrees, the sensor should read anywhere from 5,600 ohms to 2,400 ohms. If it reads much more, or much less, replace it

When you set the air flow to defrost the windshield, it automatically turns on the air conditioner to de-humidify the incoming air so it doesnt fog up the windshield. When ever the A/C is on, the fan is on.
