Default cam position sensor

I have had a check engine light on for about 2 months last week I went and had the code pulled which was p0011 which apparently is a bad camshaft positionsensor. for the life of me I cannot seem to find an engine diagram or instructions on where this part is or how to fix it. it's a 3.5 liter V6 and the cam code said that it was Bank One has anyone dealt with this before do they know where this piece is on the engine and or how simple or difficult it is to replace? I have the part I just need to know how to install it 1 bolt 1 electrical clip should be easy enough if I can find it and I don't have to dismantle too much. any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated thank you. oh by the way it's a 2009 Saturn Vue XE all wheel drive 3.5 liter

Even though I've never seen the 3.5 liter V-6, I'm going to suggest you look at both ends of the cylinder head. Since the cams are up top, the sensor should be fairly close. I have no idea which side is Bank One, though.

Bank one should be looking from the transmission, on the left. So the front bank.

Unless the trans is on the right side of the vehicle, which I have never seen, but anything could happen.

moved to general tech section since we don't know what vehicle you have nor am I inclined to take the time to narrow it down.

Also, no tech questions in the New Member area, please. It is for new member introductions, not new problem introductions. Thank you

I may be all wrong on this but I'm going to make an offer anyway. According the exploded view I have of the 3.5 engine, the camshaft sensor is located down on the engine block, on the left side looking from the front of the engine, or from the timing chain cover. i.e. toward the engine bay firewall. It appears to be positioned so that the sensor is installed almost straight down.

I'm trying to figure out how to capture a screen shot of this diagram and when I do, I'll add it to this thread.

It would be helpful to know the model and year that we're working on. Thanks

Default I got you guys who still need this

The sensor is a since 3 wire sensor due to it being 1 cam because its overhead valve. It's right under the power steering pump. But check the wiring isn't melted. Gm ran them under the pump which commonly melted them

Dude, this thread is over 6 years old. We appreciate you input, but please check the dates on these things. The OP never came back to let us know what happened.
