This isn't a big issue for me, but I noticed after coming close to an accident, i had to press the horn and hold, that the airbag light came on for a few seconds than come off, it seems if i hold the horn for long the light will come on for a few seconds and come off.

Has this ever happened to anyone, and is there a reason it happens?

 

I will be totally honest with you on this --> I DON'T DO AIRBAGS !!

Anytime I see/suspect an airbag problem, I return to the dealership - for me, the GM dealer that absorbed most of the service technicians from my Saturn dealer ...

its a saturn sl2 99, i would go to the dealer too, but its not that important to me, so unless they dont charge (highly doubt that) I'll check it out

 

I don't do air bags either. Air bags = expensive any time I even think about it.
However my 94 the air bag cover has been damaged by the heat and the UV here in the sun and the horn hasn't worked for a number of years. The plastic cover is too stiff to work with it and I'm not about to figure out how to get it apart. Your problem might be related. Dunno.
In general the plastic on the car has not dealt well with the heat and and the sun.

 

nope everything is intact, oh well, the problem isnt really that significant, it doesn't pose any problems to my daily driving, at start up its blinks 7 times which means its operating normally =)
