Hello.

Last week, my 98 saturn spun a piston rod bearing. (''98 DOHC 1.9L)

My junk yard has several ''96 DOHC 1.9L engines. However, the computer system they have says the ''96 is not compatible with the ''98. I don''t really believe this.

If I were to replace my ''98 engine with a ''96 engine, what problems would I run into?

Thank you!

I''m not sure what the difference between a 98 and the 97 and earlier engines are. Maybe sensors or mounting? If you don''t have any luck finding local I''m parting out a 98 sl2 with a good dohc engine w/140k miles. $300 if interested. I''m in southeast mo.
