Default 97 sc2 need help was driving and something blew threw the trans pan

ok i have a 97 sc2 5spd i was driving to work shifted threw all the gears fine than about 30 sec after being in 5th gear something made a bang and went under the car, it seemed like something broke off than went under the car, i looked under the car (it was dark) and it looked like something blew threw the trans pan and there was fluid leakin out ?? an idea what it good be, the trans still lets u shift into every gear but when u push the clutch in, its very ez to push and theres a whinning sound when the car is running
thanks

no need to get snippy -- dealer will know what it is from the description.
Be my guest -- let your boy disassemble 1/2 the tranny in your driveway to determine he can't tell what's missing...

Tidbit:

Usually the differential pin blows through the bell housing not through the pan, and functionality ends there. So your differential pin is likely intact.
