Default 91 SL1 runs terrible

My 91 SL1 is running terrible. It bucks and idles rough. that is when it will idle. So far I've replaced the ECTS. Plugs wires air filter fuel filter and the EGR valve. when I drive it it will surge badly. It feels like it's running out of gas. You have to pump the gas pedal to keep it running. It will sometimes fix itself. Today I drove about 15 miles at 65 mph. It ran like crap. bucking and surging. I stopped at a store for a few minutes and when I started it back up it raced about 2K rpm for a minute. Then it went to regular idle and drove fine. This car is driving me nuts. Do you think it's the injector? or the fuel pump? or is it possible that the EGR solenoid might be bad? Thanks for any ideas here.. BTW it has 228 K miles. Thanks

If it's behaving that badly, I suspect you may find one or more trouble codes set on the OBD1 -- download the info, and post the codes here -- we'll try to help.

your EGR is vacuum driven.
in addition to SES codes per OA, I'd suspect the IAC (idle air control) or TPS (throttle position sensor), or a vacuum leak as culprits.

Before I'd change either sensor, I'd give the the throttle body a good cleaning

How much oil does it burn?

Well I had to give up in fixing it myself. I had to have it towed because it just wouldn't run anymore. It will start and run for like 5 seconds then quit. I have it at a local shop and he says it's a spark problem. He did some kind of scope test on it yesterday while I was there. He thought it might be the crank sensor. He replaced it today and it didn't work. So now he's going to try to get a module from the junk yard. If you have any further info on something like this I'd appreciate it. And in answer to the question about oil burning.. Well it's not too bad..... I've driven worse.
