Weird downshift intermittent issue
Hey guys,
Ok, so this one has me confused, like most intermittent problems do. 95 SL1 has the tranny with the performance switch on center console. Always set to 'normal'. When driving, as I'm accelerating, just normally - not tromping on it at all, every so often the tranny will downshift to what I believe is 2nd or 3rd gear and stay there until I get to 40 mph (runs to about 3K rpms) and then shifts to final driving gear. No jerking, no missing or other engine problems that could confuse the tranny. It does it on flat or hill. If you come to a complete stop, the tranny will 'reset', but if you just slow down to a crawl it has to go through the progression to 40 mph before it will finally shift right. Then it's fine for a while.
When we got the car, DH changed the tranny filter and topped off the fluid (as well as other new-to-us car maintenance. Car had 84K when we got it last fall, now has just flipped 90K last week.
Thoughts?
