Smile Maf problem

I recently had a Maf with a blade of grass across the hot wire. That car ran good at full throttle because it ignored the Maf at w.o.t. The car idled ok but cruise and accel were terrible. The computer would lean the car to the point the o2 sensors read 0. Funny how two new $65 o2 sensors made no change. I have worked on cars all my life. I have a Snap on scanner, but I don't work on mixed fleet vehicles any more. My life is Ford products at work, mostly Diesels.
I have had a Buick years ago that had a bad Maf and it would run with it disconnected. When faced with no solution you have to look for the unexpected.
They run with the Maf disconnected because with a missing sensor the pcm supplies a "will run" reading. The car can run on speed density and ignore Maf.

Well I definitely learned something from all this this is the gf's car I got it 3 years ago from a elderly couple that pulled it behind a motor home for $200 and only 75k on the odometer it's now at 140k good little car just a hiccup as far as I'm concerned again thanks for the responses . Mayhem
