Default Water getting in somehow?

I have a 2008 VUE. I pulled the tire foam out under the hatch floor for the first time. The carpet under the tire and back seat are wet, not soaked, but all the stuff that had fallen under the seat from the previous owners was wet. I asked the guy who sold it to me if the darn thing had been in a flood. He said something about maybe a drain failing? I have never heard of a drain that can drain into the interior. My front carpets are constantly wet too, but I just chalked it up to Michigan winter weather.

While I'm not at all familiar with the Vue, the first question I will ask is if you have a sun roof? If so, the drains on it could be clogged. That would explain the front carpets being wet, but I don't know if there are rear drains for it too to explain the back hatch. Are there any missing body plugs that you can see? The last question is if you have a carfax report on the car to see if it's ever been in a rear end collision and repaired? My son got rear ended in his IQ and the repair shop did a poor job and it collected water in the hatch just as you're describing. He traded that POS on a new Corolla last year.

No carfax, but it was dinged in the rear passenger quarter. At the time I bought it guy said just the dent, but once I looked closer yesterday it had to have had the window broke out since there was glass everywhere under the rear hatch floor. Thanks will take a look at the plugs.

I'd suspect a bad seal around that window, Tim. I'll bet it wasn't sealed properly when it was replaced.
