My mom's 2002 Saturn Vue 5 speed manual transmission never had a problem starting she parked it went out the next day to start it and it would not start and it makes a whining sound like it's dying but not a dead battery dying what is wrong please help

 

It certainly sounds like a low battery issue. What voltage does the battery show before attempting to start it? (It should be at least 12.5 volts) What voltage does the battery show WHILE attempting to start it? (It should not drop much below 10 volts). Have you tried jump starting it, or using a battery booster pack?

Your description of the whining sound seems to indicate that the Bendix gear is not even engaging the flywheel, which would indicate very low voltage or a bad starter.
