P0496-Solenoid Valve?
Hello friends, I have been a long-time lurker on this forum, and have finally made an account to see if anyone can help with my issue. I got my Vue two years ago and while I love alot of things about this car, the emissions system and I seem to be in a never ending battle.
I have been having some issues with my Vue (2005, 2.2L Ecotech) idling rough (the engine sounds sluggish, like it is about to stall) for a second on start-up and then throwing this code.
I had a similar evap code when I first bought it two years ago, but it turned out that all I needed to do was replace the gas cap. This was after the mechanic already replaced the purge valve (and then re-replaced it when it wouldn't start after putting gas in the car).
I have replaced the purge valve (as I had reason to not trust that mechanic's work), but it did not solve the issue. Coils and Plugs were replaced last year so I don't think that is the issue. Fuel Pump, ECM, and PCM were replaced two years ago, and as I said the gas cap was replaced two years ago as well.
When I had the evap leak problem a couple years back they ran a smoke test and told me the emissions hoses didn't have any leaks so I am hoping that is still the case.
The only thing I can think is that maybe it is an issue with the vent/solenoid valve (not the purge valve, the one that connects to the charcoal canister) ? Or possibly the fuel pressure sensor? Anyone have any thoughts? I would love to get this fixed before my inspection runs out soon.
