Default 2006 Vue Hatch Glass Help

Hello new to forum, just purchased a 2006 Saturn Vue for my daughter who is going away to college. The previous owner broke the rear hatch glass and I found a replacement. There is still pieces of glass in around the hatch that need to be removed cuurently it is taped and clear plastic in place. Looking at the new glass I cannot figure out how to install this. The new glass has a rubber gasket going around the glass and valcro in the corner. Does this glass get held in with windshield adhesive ? I tried to research this and cannot find anything here or doing a google search. Thanks for any help

If by gasket you mean weather seal, I would assume it is held in by adhesive that you apply around the opening and then set the glass into place. Maybe the velcro is to support the weight of the glass as the adhesive sets.

This is totally off the top of my head. the closest I've ever come to replacing Auto Glass is watching somebody fix mine. I would get the rest of the broken glass out when it's not going to rain for a couple days straight and Dry-Fit the replacement glass. It should then become clear what needs to be done.

Hopefully someone else will follow this post with the actual correct answer.

Thanks I have looked at this more and I agree it has to be set in with adhesive but I could be wrong. Thanks for the reply
