Default 2006 Vue has frozen ignition key

Hi and thanks in advance.

I drove into my driveway today, and turned off the engine. But I couldn't remove the key. In fact the key is frozen into place. It won't turn at all, or come out, or move at all. It's like it's welded in place. The most interesting part is that the wheel will turn, and therefore I can turn the front wheels.
I've searched YouTube up and down. I can't do what some of them suggest because the key is still in place in the ignition, therefore I can't pull off the lower cowling. So I can't see the place where I should push in a small piece of wire or an allen wrench so that I can remove the key cylinder.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try lightly tapping on it with a hammer while trying to turn it. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you. I'm not at all familiar with a Vue.

If you can't get it to the acc position for simple extraction, a reputable locksmith likely knows the tricks.
