I am having a problem with my door latch on the rear drivers side. Sometimes it latches and sometimes it doesn't. It is becoming a pain. I am worried that someday it will just open up.
I called the dealer and they told me there are no recalls on the problem. A new latch is 75 +tax, which I think is ridiculous.

Where do you all go to get your parts.

Do you know if there are any aftermarket parts companies that would sell a replacement?

Usually, coachwork items like door latches, etc are OEM only. Your other option, is to haunt your local wrecking yards (u-pull-it) for a hulk what matches your needs.

Are you sure the latch is truly defective, and not just mis-adjusted or mis-aligned ??

 

I tried to re adjust it but after removing the striker, the bolt holes are all counter sunk. So it didn't look like I was able to make any adjustment. Same with the locking mechanism.

I actuated the latch with my finger and it seemed it didn't want to "latch" all the time. I went over to the passenger side door and it feels different. The one that seems defective moves much more freely than the one that works.

 

Sounds like there's a trip to the suppliers in your future ...

Buy one for a honda or toyota and then speak of ridiculous. A door latch is a dealer item only. Then you could go see what you can find in a junk yard.
