Default Swap

I had a thought earlier of making my 94 sl2 into a sleeper. I know there are turbo kits and things for it. But I was wondering if any of you guys had swapped an Ion redline or cobalt ss motor and trans into their sl? If so what does it intail?

Ive thought of it, but there is massive amounts of modification and its honestly not worth the time and money imo. it would be the most badass little thing around but theres alot, and i mean alot to do.

if you have the time, money and paitence, go for it. if not, go buy an ion redline and tape on the panels from yours lolol

Yeah I figurd it would cost quite a bit. I was hoping that there would be a kit for a swap or something lol. That would be the ultimate sleeper too lol.

A V8? Thats insane lol. that thing is probably a beast lol

Is there some kind of performance rebuild kit out there? I know I could piece together one, but Ive seen performance rebuild kits for other cars. I really think that the sleeper sl2 would be awsome. V8's pretty much rule the streets around here. With the exception of a few sport compacts. I would just love to pull into the races and demolish a few V8's lol

what little aftermarket support there was for S cars has pretty much dried up.
And forget the chips on ebay -- they are ALL scams.

Yeah I'll just make my SL look good and get something else to turn into a sleeper

Derfs last comment just about covered things. The bolt on stuff if it ever existed is pretty much disappeared. There are no replacement engines that fit it at all other than the same engine it came with.
That said, with enough money who cares, you can do anything.

honestly, im just doing a simple rebuild with o/e parts and bored .020 over. in the future i plan cams and a compression bump. Mine was pretty quick to begin with, as i kept up with a tuned up rabbit on an engine badly burning oil which def has lost power and have beaten a few hondas around here. A fresh rebuild should put some pep in that thing. you can always go for a turbo and throw a hushpower on it or something and make it look nice - but i hear turboing the 1.9 kinda kills the reliability - and forged internals are mad expensive lol.
