Hi guys I am really hoping that someone can help me out here. I have a 96 SL2 with 105K on it. On two seperate occasions on trips of over 30 miles of freeway drivingas I go to slow down and come to a stop on the off ramp the car stalls out and dies. I can immediatly restart the car and it will idle in park but if I put it into drive it will stall and die again right away. After I restart the car the check engine light will come on as well. After sitting and completely cooling off for an hour or soit will start and drive just fine. the car seems to run perfectly on short trips. The dealership hasnt been able to replicate the issue so if any of you have any ideas it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I went through much the same thing with my 94 SL1 a few weeks back. Similar symptoms and similar difficulties getting it diagnosed. Turned out to be the MAP sensor. What made it hard to pinpoint is that it didn't start throwing codes until I had already changed a number of other possible cause parts.

Have you had the dealer check the trouble codes and did they show anything? Initially, all mine showed was "misfire" codes.

Sounds like possible sticking EGR or EGR solenoid issue -- do RPMs gyrate up and down prior to stalling?

Ever had EGR cleaned?

Check EGR solenoid.

And yes -- the codes please --the codes.....
