I have a 2002 sl2 with some tranny issues that have been ongoing since early last year. I had a rebuild done @ the tune of 3G''''''''s and have been back to the service center 9 times now with complaints about it. I need a little help here...over the past 3 weeks they have "rebuilt" my tranny 3 times, or so they tell me.

Last thing I was told was mycomplaint is known by Saturn and is something that is "completely normal" to the "S" series vehicles from 1995 - 2002. I was told to get used to it and try to ignore it...

The problem is: When I put the car into Reverse with my foot on the brake, then slide the shifter into Neutral still with my foot on the brake, then wait 5 - 10 seconds (when car is cold) I get a bang from the transmission and a little bit of a jolt in the car. The warmer the car is, the less the delay is before you hear the bang...

Does anyone have this with their Saturn or has anyone heard of this...PLEASE HELLLLLLLP!!!!Edited by: Tempairs09

It''s the ValveBody or Output shaft nut .... Most likely the valvebody. Don''t take it to Joe''s CrabShack and Transmission Repair

Was is you, or was it LowSaturn who came up with a method to pin the Output Shaft Nut ?? If it was you, would you mind going through the method one more time for the rest of the forum group, please ??

If it was my car, Mr Tansmission would go out of business before I would take it there. No offense to Mr Transmission, but I personally have never seen a good result out of them when working on Saturns

Well...there are 2 shops in town and the other one ripped me off big time on a tranny service when they put a 400$ gasket in...so I figured I''d go with the big name shop. I guess I''m screwed either way.

So does anyone know of this sound that I''m getting...is it normal?

Unfortunately not uncommon and no, I wouldn''''t qualify the "reverse slam" as "normal" unless you choose not to get it fixed by an honest shop, in which case it will become the normal sound you hear every morning....Edited by: derf
