SL1 Questions?!?!
Hello, so I have a 2001 Saturn SL1 automatic with roughly 147k miles it. I had a couple questions, pretty random, and was looking for some answers.
1) Will it last me to 200k miles and if so what should I expect to go parts wise?
2) is there a was to install a “fancier” looking aftermarket shifter?
3) Is it possible and worth it to turn the car into a sleeper car?
4) Is there any website where I can possibly find ANY parts for the car either external or internal as well as upgrades and cosmetic repairs/ upgrades?
Please and thank you, Carlito

As long as you do the regular maintenance on it, there's no reason it won't last 200,000 miles and beyond. That's keeping the oil changed, filters changed, tune ups, etc. And let's face it, it's a 1.9 liter SOHC, so as far as making it something of a sleeper, the answer is no. Save the money you're saving on gas and put it aside and buy something with a turbo or supercharger if you want to go fast. A Saturn SL1 wasn't built for speed, just good quality economy.
Per Rube. Maintenance is the key. 3000 mi oil changes with Dino oil will stave off oil burning, as will running 10W30. If you run synthetic, no more than 5K between changes. Use stock NGK plain old copper plugs, change every 36k. Front O2 sensors last about 100-125k. Directly affects gas mileage so change when it codes.
Your auto trans is the most problematic part on your s car. At some point you will likely need a rebuilt valve body and the input shaft nut will need to be replaced.
As for aftermarket shifters, the only thing I'd recommend changing there is the **** if you can find a suitable replacement. If you do, put both hands, one over the other, on to the ****. Bottom hand pulls, top hand controls the aftermath.
Get your face out of the path of motion your hands will take when the **** pulls off or you will break your nose or give yourself a black eye. Also don't be pulling so hard that you drive the removed **** into the headliner and wreck it.

Please post Pxxxx, not the code description.
There are two speed sensors on the tranny. One on the output shaft, the other on the input, if I remember correctly. I believe the sensors are identical but obviously are in different locations.
I reserve the right to be wrong from memory.
Anyway, the exact numerical code will lead us to the promised sensor.
