i have a 98 sl1 5speed with a bad tranny and a 2001 sl2 with a bad motor. is it possible to take out my sohc from my 98 and put it in my 01 sl2? i know it will bolt right in, but i wanna know if i can just swap motors straight accross or if i will have to swap over the computers and wiring harnesses as well.

You cant just drop it in.

For it to work you''d need a 5 speed transmission for a SOHC S-Series. Then there would be no sense in swapping into the SL2.

For it to work in the 01 SL2, you''d need:

-MP2 transmission (manual for SOHC equipped Saturns)
-2001 SOHC PCM programed with same options as the original.
-2001 SOHC BCM programed with same options as the original.

-2000-2002 SOHC instrument cluster
